As we warm ourselve up from school to the Lagoon at SKI 360 degrees, all of us were chatting about the latest computer game, whats ahead of us in half an hour's timewill be something not worth being tried by the average person.
As we wet our head with water to cool down abit aginst the hot blistering afternoon sun,Ms Sheikha walk towards the Lagoon and told us what to do later."5 X 200 metres with 95% the warm down for 8 minutes before doing 2 sets of 300 metres, 95% and finish it off with another 5 x 200 metres and warm down for 30 minutes.To us, 95% equal to 100%,which means an average of doing a 200 metres interval time of 37 seconds will cut down to35-36 seconds.
The seniors started first before being followed by the juniors.My first set of 5 x 2oo metres was between a good timing of 34 and 35 seconds.After doing a 8 minutes jog, comes the 300 metres.It was at least better then the 200 metres as we only need to do it twice.My first 300 metres was 1 minute and it was very slow.I told myself to do beter for the next one.And i clocked a time of 53 seconds which was acceptable.
By now, the amount of lactic acid in my legs is able to kill me!My legs feel so heavy.All that is left is just 5 x 200 metres and I am done.
After that day at the SAA cross country, I told myself to train harder to maintainmy good position i acheived that day.And te last few 200 metres were done in a blink of an eye with the timing of 33 to 34 seconds.I straight away went to do my warm done to clear the lactic acids.
